Four Reasons You Should Get Dental Checkups

Just because you may not have any immediate oral health concerns doesn’t mean you could not benefit from a dental checkup. Routine checkups allow our dental team to detect oral concerns before they arise and become severe issues that require a more in-depth procedure. Below are four reasons why you should get regular dental checkups:

  • To catch gingivitis and periodontal disease early.
  • Detect oral cancer before it’s too late with the help of screenings.
  • Fill cavities before they require a root canal or total extraction.
  • Learn and practice at home oral hygiene.

If you are a new patient, then there may be a small amount of paperwork to fill out prior to your scheduled appointment. After this is completed, our hygienist will take x-rays of your teeth and jaw as well as a thorough oral examination. They will look for cavities, infection, impacted teeth, gum disease, and other common issues. If any of these are found, the hygienist will go over possible treatment plans. A teeth cleaning will then be provided. This process includes eliminating any plaque or tartar from the teeth and gums. They will then polish the teeth for a fresh finish. Any additional procedures will take place after.

Our team recommends regular dental cleanings and exams at least twice a year to ensure a healthy smile. We encourage you to contact our dental office today for more information or to set up your next checkup with a member of our staff.
